Patricia de Souza

Lorrainlor

Patricia’s formal dance training started at an early age, at Ann Lingard's School of Ballroom and Latin American Dance. She was a member of “The Cherry Bells” formation dance team and competed in competitions around the UK.

Not wanting to limit herself to one form of dance, Patricia also took classes in disco and urban street dancing, Jive and Tango. However, when she tried a Salsa class in 2000 she found her true passion! Cuban, Cross Body, On1, On2... she learned all the different styles of Salsa, together with other Latin dances, including Rumba, Son, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha, Reggaton and Bachata.

Patricia has been teaching predominantly Cuban style salsa in Brighton since 2001; running her own classes and guest teaching at various clubs around the South of England and London, as well as  weekend events (Afrocuban’s  weekender in Crawley and Salsa Explosions Reuda Congress in Bournemouth)

She has also been involved in organising and running salsa themed Dinner/Dance, fund-raising and team building events, salsa parties and wedding receptions (including choreography for the Bridal couples first dance), and provides 1 to 1 coaching.

You may have spotted Patricia dancing on TV, appearing in the BBC drama Baby Father and an episode of Happiness, a few years ago.  She loves to perform and is currently a member of Michael y los Mandrels a Rueda showcase dance troupe

The emphasis of Patricia’s classes is on having fun while learning to dance. She brings a fusion of other dance forms to her salsa classes like Hip Hop, Reggaton and Templeque (shaking your booty!)
Not only does she teach Salsa, but also music interpretation and how to move your body.
